Artist and author Anita Inverarity resides with her partner and feline companions in the rural Scottish countryside. Her garden receives many visitors including badgers, hares, foxes and deer, who find their way into her artworks. Inspired by mythology, ancient wisdom and the potent alchemy of liminal spaces and sacred ancestral sites, Anita’s ink drawings are distinctly recognisable. With a blend of folkloric and art nouveau aesthetics, her creations are threaded with magic and ornamentation in a unique art language.

Anita excelled at art in school and returned to it in her forties after a period of ill health forced her to work from home. Since then, her artwork has appeared far and wide, from Scotland’s National Galleries and Museums, to the celebrated fashion house Zimmermann, as well as album covers, prints, and so much more.

In more recent years, Anita launched “The Milk Thistle Moon Reading Room” at her home gallery where she explores transformational spiritual practices with others through her art and prose. She has created, illustrated and authored oracle and tarot decks, throughout which you will find beautifully costumed maidens and other beings in moonlit gardens with crystals, talismans and symbolism to evoke nature and earth magic.

In all its forms, Anita’s artwork invites you to look closer, enjoy the details and delight in a glimpse of other worlds.
